Martin Bezeth

A British Subject born in Rotterdam on 12 May 1823, Martin Bezeth was the son of Nathan Bezeth and Hester née Boas. 

On 25 April 1863 at Holy Trinity in Paddington he married Anne Atwood Crocker, daughter of merchant Jonathan Crocker.

The couple appear on the 1871 census living at 28 Eaton Square in London, the home of Anne’s father Jonathan Crocker.

In 1881 they had a home of their own at 44 Front Road in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The household included three female servants.

Mrs Anne Atwood Bezeth died on 5 December 1887 at Bath in Somerset. 

Martin Bezeth appears on the 1891 census, a widower living at 44 Wynnstay Gardens in Kensington with a ‘sick nurse’ and two female domestic servants. He was still at the same address when the 1901 census was taken, now with a ‘hospital nurse’ and one female servant.

He died, aged 80, on 11 September 1903 at 44 Wynnstay Gardens, leaving an estate valued at £3516.
