(1839-1904)
17 June 1862

Volume 7, page 141, sitting number 8809.

Born in 1839, Mary Anne Frances Maddy was the daughter of Thomas Watkin Maddy and his wife Jane Maddy née Gwynne. Her father was an attorney and the clerk of the county court in Herefordshire.

She appears on the 1851 census living with her parents and two siblings at Sutton St Nicholas in Herefordshire.

On 1 February 1870 at Henfyniw in Cardiganshire she married Reverend William Owen Edwards, the vicar of Henfynyw and Aberayron (now Aberaeron).

The couple appear on the 1871 census living with two servants in the Vicarage at Henfynyw in Cardiganshire.

They were still at the same address in 1891, now with three daughters (aged 19, 17 and 16, all born in Aberaeron) and two servants.

Reverend Edwards died at the Vicarage in Aberaeron (presumably the same vicarage) on 7 October 1895, leaving an estate valued at £1457.

1n 1901 Mary Anne was a widow living with daughters May and Lilian and one ‘general servant’ at 10 Hastings Road in Ealing, West London.

She died there, aged 65, on 14 June 1904. Her estate was valued at £5611.
