Identified on the album page as ‘H.R. Aikman’ and in the Silvy daybooks as 'H.H.A. Aikman,' this is Hugh Henry Robertson-Aikman.

Born on 5 March 1819, he was the second son of Captain George Robertson-Aikman, HEICS [Honourable East India Company Service], of Ross and Broomelton, Lanarkshire. 

On 21 September 1858 at St James's Piccadilly Hugh Henry Robertson-Aikman 'of Ross House, Hamilton' married Mary Joyce Stokes, daughter of Thomas Stokes of New Parks, Leicestershire (Edinburgh Evening Courant, 25 September 1858). 

The couple appear on the 1861 census staying at the home of Mrs Robertson-Aikman's father, Thomas Stokes, a magistrate for the County of Leicestershire living at New Parks. Aikman described himself as a ‘Magistrate for the County of Lanark’ and a 'Landed Proprietor.'

Hugh Henry Robertson-Aikman died, aged 62, on 22 January 1882 at 44 Portland Place, London. He left an estate valued at £5400. 

[From an album compiled by Charles Balfour, a British wine merchant importing sherry and port from Portugal. Born in Edinburgh on 22 August 1822, he was the son of James Balfour. In May 1852 he married Mary Ermelinda, daughter of Robert Woodhouse of Oporto in Portugal. The couple were married at the consulate then afterwards at the British chapel in Oporto. Charles Balfour died on 12 January 1876.]
