'Our Dear Mother'
Brockmeyer, East St Louis, Illinois, USA
silver print

A large silver print dating from the 1930s showing a sizeable group of mourners assembled around a coffin on the steps of a clapboard church. A Roman Catholic priest stands at the head of the coffin, and four altar boys, one with a thurible and one with an aspergillum, are lined up at the front of the group. The wreath placed at the centre of the foreground carries the words 'Our Dear Mother.'

The print measures 7.7" by 9.7" (19.7 cm by 24.7 cm) and is mounted on a two-tone mount decorated with an Art Déco border around the photograph. The mount measures 11.5" by 13.5" (29.3 cm by 34.6 cm) with photographer's details printed in the centre of the lower margin.

Photographed by Brockmeyer of East St Louis, Illinois.
