Frank Ambrose
Anonymous, North American
albumen print
An albumen print showing a large group of mourners and a priest gathered around an open casket in front of what might be a church. The name ‘Frank Ambrose’ has been added to the ribbon above the coffin on the negative, the surname in mirror writing.
The print measures 6.2” by 8.2” (15.8 cm by 20.9 cm) and is mounted on a piece of plain Bristol board.
Photographer and location unidentified, but the photograph was bought from an American dealer so the location is likely to be the United States. The clothes of the mourners suggest a date in the late 1890s or early 1900s.
