A gelatin silver print showing a group of Latvian mourners beside an open coffin, outside a wooden building. Those in European dress, who are presumably more affluent, are grouped around the head of the coffin, while those in traditional dress have been placed at the foot of the coffin.

The print measures 5" by 7" (12.5 cm by 17.5 cm) and is mounted on an elaborately decorated piece of Bristol board measuring 8.5" by 10.5" (21.6 cm by 26.8 cm).

A wetstamp on the reverse of the mount identifies the photographer as  E. B. Urga of Koknese in Latvia.
