[The sitter visited the studio with her husband, who is identified in the daybooks as 'Major Walker.' The boy with a pony who appears adjacent here is probably their son, since portraits of all three were acquired at the same time from the same source. Hart's Army List for 1867 lists 55 officers with this surname, and that's not including those who had retired from active service.]
