An outdoor portrait of three casually dressed men taking the air at Rottingdean, the small fishing village along the coast from Brighton. The men are all wearing woolly jumpers and two of them have their trouser legs turned up. One of the men is lying on the grass, and the jaunty angles at which the men are wearing the brims of their straw boaters adds to the informality of the portrait.

Photographed by G.W. West of Rottingdean.

condition: The print has slightly limited tonal range but is otherwise in excellent condition. The mount shows a small amount of foxing, mostly on its reverse.
