A pigmented carbon print showing a naked boy standing on the branch of a tree, next to a lake or river. It’s a matter of opinion whether or not the image has an erotic charge. Either way, it was taken in a more innocent age, when the photographing of naked children was not regarded with suspicion. The image dates to around 1915.

Photographer unidentified.

The print measures 7.3” by 5” (183 mm by 128 mm). It is mounted on a much larger sheet of contemporary paper, with the title Tree’d inked in a stylized, period hand in the lower right-hand corner, and the colour of the pigment, Grey-green, inked in the lower left-hand corner.

condition: The print is in excellent condition; the sheet of paper on which it is mounted is slightly foxed.
