|A matt silver print of the 1940's showing a Cuban bodybuilder.
Photographed by Karoll of Havana, identified by his studio's logo in the lower right-hand corner of the image.
Karoll was arrested as 'social deviant' when Castro came to power and was sent to a labour camp, where along with other gay men he was brutally mistreated. He eventually died at a readjustment facility in 1983.
The print, which is unmounted, measures 9.6" by 7.7" (243 mm by 196 mm).
