|A matt silver print from the 1940's showing a Cuban bodybuilder.
Photographed by Karoll of Havana, identified by his studio's logo in the lower left-hand corner of the print.
Karoll was arrested as 'social deviant' when Castro came to power and was sent to a labour camp, where along with other gay men he was brutally mistreated. He eventually died at a readjustment facility in 1983.
The print, which is unmounted, measures 11" by 6.8" (280 mm by 173 mm).
