Mrs Anne Gordon

Born in Scotland in or about 1786, Anne Clunes was the daughter of Gordon Clunes.

On 13 July 1808 she married Edinburgh lawyer Joseph Gordon. Their marriage produced two daughters and five sons, among them the civil engineer Lewis Dunbar Brodie Gordon.

Her husband died in Edinburgh on 7 March 1855.

In 1871 she was living with her unmarried daughter Mary Emelia Norman Gordon at 2 St Stephen’s Crescent, Paddington.

Mrs Anne Gordon. ‘late of 3 Palace-houses Bayswater-road’ died on 11 November 1881 at Sherwood, Tunbridge Wells, Kent. This was the home of her son-in-law the electrical engineer and businessman Charles William (originally Karl Wilhelm) Siemens, whose brother Werner, together with Johann George Halske, founded what became the multinational industrial manufacturing company Siemens (originally Siemsns & Halske).
