[The sitter is identified as 'Mrs Phillips Egerton' in the Silvy daybooks but I can find no trace of anyone with this name. There was, however, a baronet and Member of Parliament called Sir Philip Egerton, but his wife should have been styled Lady Egerton. Also, her portrait appears elsewhere in the Silvy daybooks - and on this webiste - and this clearly isn't the same woman.]
