Miss Emma Rothery
(1814-1891)
17 April 1861

Voluem 3, page 105, sitting numbeer 3111.

[Identifed as 'Miss Rothery' in the Silvy daybooks, this is probably Miss Emma Rothery, who on another occasion had Silvy photograph a bust of her father by the sculptor Richard Cockle Lucas.]

Born on 13 December 1814, the daughter of William and Frances Rothery, Emma Margaret Rothery was baptised on 4 June 1816 at St George's, Bloomsbury.

Her father was the legal adviser to the Treasury on all matters connected with the slave trade. He died at his home in Stratford Place on 6 March 1864, leaving an estate valued at £16,000.

Emma appears on the 1861 census, living at 10 Stratford Place in Marylebone. The household included eight servants.

Miss Emma Margaret Rothery never married. She died on 18 September 1891 at 11 Leamington Road Villas, Bayswater. Her estate was valued at £846.
