Born at Uffington in Lincolnshire in or about 1810, Matilda Trollope was the second daughter of Sir John Trollope, 6th Bt., of Casewick Hall and his wife Anne née Thorold.

On 18 June 1838 she became the second wife of Charles Wykeham-Martin of Leeds Castle in Kent.

When the census was taken in 1851 she was at 19 Brunswick Terrace in Hove with her widowed mother Anne Trollope.

She appears on the 1861 census living at Leeds Castle with her husband and two of her four step-children. The household included fifteen servants.

Mrs Matilda Wykeham-Martin died on 5 June 1876 at 25 Great Cumberland Place, London, and was buried on 10 June 1876 at Broomfield in Kent. She left an estate valued at £20,000.
