Miss Georgina Tweeddale
(1823-1895)

Baptised at St Martin in the Fields in London on 23 April 1823, Georgina Tweeddale was the daughter of James Tweeddale and his wife Margaret (née Dunbar) of 20 Little St Martin’s Lane. Her father was a surgeon in the Royal Navy. He died after a few days’ illness at Port Adelaide in South Australia on 24 May 1849.

In 1851 her widowed mother Margaret was living at 5 Robert Street near Charing Cross. Also present on the night of the census that year were her brother William Alexander Tweeddale, a ‘ship and insurance broker,’ and her sister Jean Milligan Tweeddale. Georgina was elsewhere the night of the census.

 In 1891 she and Jeanie were both unmarried and living together at 27 Blandford Road in Acton.

Miss Georgina Tweeddale died, aged 72, on 6 March 1895 at 27 Blandford Road, Bedford Park, Acton. She left effects valued at £215. Probate was granted to her sister Jeanie Milligan Tweeddale.
