(1779-1867)
20 November 1867

Volume 9, page 314, sitting number 12, 254.

Henry Holgate Carwardine was a general surgeon who practised at Earls Colne in Essex, where he was the manorial lord. He became a MRCS on 6 January 1804; he was elected a FRCS on 26 August 1844. In 1827 he was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Essex.

He never married. He appears on the 1851 census living at the Priory in Earls Colne with an unmarried niece, Anne Henrietta Probert, and four servants, including a footman.

Henry and Anne were still at the address in 1861, now with only three servants but still employing a footman.

Henry Holgate Carwardine died, aged 88, at the Priory in Earls Colne on 6 August 1867; he left an estate valued at £25,000.

His brother, Reverend John Carwardine, was the Rector of Earls Colne.
