Mrs Charles Parker

I thought at first that this might be the widow of solicitor Charles Parker, who died, aged 59, on 7 May 1862 at The Grove, Binstead, Berkshire, leaving an estate valued at £100,000. However, she would have been 57 when this portrait was taken in 1863 and the woman seen here appears to be about 40 years old. 

The most likely candidate that I can find for a fuller identification is Mrs Jane Parker of Maidstone in Kent, the wife of bank manager Charles Parker. The couple appear on the 1861 census with their six children and two servants at 27 High Street, Maidstone. Baptised on 28 January 1825 at Hadlow in Kent, the daughter of William and Caroline Kipping, she married Charles Parker in 1850 and died in 1867. She was buried on 8 October 1867 at Maidstone, Kent.
