(1834-1927 and 1857-1945)
16 July 1861

Volume 4, page 218, sitting number 4944.

On 8 Mary 1855 Anna Mary Elizabeth Grey-Egerton, elder daughter of Sir Philip de Malpas Grey-Egerton, married Henry Reginald Corbet, son and heir of Richard Corbet of Adderley Hall near Market Drayton in Shropshire.

According to the 1911 census, their marriage produced three children. These were Reginald Corbet (born 1857), Randolph John Corbet (born 1858) and Bertram D’Avenant Corbet (born 1869). The child seen here is presumably the eldest boy, Reginald.

Born on 9 October 1857, Reginald succeeded his father in 1902. He died, aged 88, on 9 December 1945 at Adderley Hall. A short obituary appeared in the Chester Chronicle (15 December 1945). ‘A magistrate of Shropshire, he was Lord of the Manors of Adderley, Drayton, Hinstock, Stoke-on-Tern, Market Drayton, and Ercall, and patron of these livings and a Major in the former Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry. In the first World War he commanded the 1st Volunteer Battalion, Shropshire Light Infantry, 1916-17. He was educated at Radley. He married in 1891 the Hon. Katherine Russell, M.B.E., Dame of Grace of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, and second daughter of the 23rd Lord de Clifford. He was a former Master of the Cheshire Hunt. His Clubs were White’s and the Turf and Kennel.’
