This is possibly the sixty-one-year-old Robert Hook, a banker and a Justice of the Peace who appears on the 1861 census living at 9 Arlington Street, just off Piccadilly, in London. At the same address on the night of the census were his wife, Katherine, aged 48, a daughter, Cecilia, aged 18, and seven servants.

Robert Hook 'formerly of 16 St James's-street and of 9 Arlington-street but late of 47 Charles-street Berkeley-square all in the County of Middlesex' died, aged 74, on 13 August 1873 at 47 Charles Street, Mayfair. He left an estate valued at £14,000.
