Cecil d'Aguilar Samuda was the son of the marine engineer Joseph d'Aguilar Samuda (1813-1885). He appears on the 1861 census, aged 11, living at 7 Gloucester Square, Paddington. His father gave as his profession 'Engineer and Iron Ship Builder, employing 298 men and 63 boys.' According to the census, Cecil's place of birth was Hampstead, London.

On 12 December 1877 Cecil d'Aguilar Samuda married Cecile Mary Isabella Markham at Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

Mr and Mrs Cecil Samuda appear on the 1901 census, living at Bruern Abbey in Oxfordshire. According to the census, he was 'living on [his] own means'.

Cecil d'Agular Samuda died on 2 February 1926 at Bruern Abbey, Kingham, Oxfordshire. He left an estate valued at £37,328.

A report of his death appeared in the Bromsgrove Advertiser on 6 February 1926: 'Death of Mr Cecil Samuda, A Founder of the Heythrop Hunt. We record with regret the death of Mr Cecil D'Aguilar Samuda, of Bruern Abbey near Kingham, which took place on Tuesday morning. He was in failing health since November.'
