Noel Robert Anderson
(1838-1868)
13 August 1861

Volume 4, page 353, sitting number 5481.

[Identified as 'Noel Anderson' in the Silvy daybooks, this is probably Noel Robert Anderson.]

Born in Brighton in 1838, Noel Robert Anderson was the son of Reverend Robert Anderson and his wife the Honourable Caroline Dorothea née Shore, daughter of the first Lord Teignmouth.

He appears on the 1861 census, aged 22, a clerk in the Admiralty at Whitehall. He was living at 83 Montpelier Road, Brighton, with his mother, the Honourable Lady Anderson, a clergyman’s widow, and his unmarried, younger sister, Edith Margaret Anderson. Also present on the night of the census were four servants.

On 4 June 1865 at St Peter's, Eaton Square, he married Carlota Augusta, daughter of Julio de Freitas d'Albuquerque of Madeira.

Noel Robert Anderson, 'late of 5 Grange-place, Brompton,' died, aged 30, at Brighton on 15 October 1868, leaving an estate valued at £450.

[From an album compiled by Charles Balfour, a British wine merchant importing sherry and port from Portugal. Born in Edinburgh on 22 August 1822, his father was James Balfour. In May 1852 he married Mary Ermelinda, daughter of Robert Woodhouse of Oporto in Portugal. Charles Balfour died on 12 January 1876.]
