Lady Emily Pepys

This is probably Lady Emily Harriet Pepys, author of a pair of tales for young people with the title Neighbourly Love; exemplified in two juvenile tales (1867). Her father was the 1st Earl of Cottenham.

Born on 21 August 1829 in London's Park Lane, she was christened on 26 September 1829 in North Mimms, Hertfordshire. She appears on the 1871 census staying at Sherborne Castle in Dorset, with her uncle, George Digby Wingfield Digby. At the time of the 1881 census she was living at 75 Victoria Street in Westminster.

Lady Emily Harriet Pepys never married. She died, aged 61, at 127 Victoria Street in Westminster on 10 February 1891, leaving an estate valued at £4078. She was buried at Totteridge in Hertfordshire, in 'the family burial place of the Earls of Cottenham' (Morning Post, 14 February 1891).
