John Edensor Heathcote

John Edensor Heathcote was born at Condover Hall in Shropshire in 1810 and was christened on 16 September of that year. His father was the industrialist Richard Edensor Heathcote (1780-1850); his mother was Emma Sophia née Gresley (died 1831), daughter of Sir Nigel Bowyer Gresley, 7th Bart. of Drakelow.

John Edensor Heathcote appears on the 1861 census, aged 50, living with his wife, Mary Anna, at Apedale Hall near Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire. For his profession, he gave 'Proprietor of Land, Coal etc.' Also present on the night of the census were a neice and eleven live-in servants.

John Edensor Heathcote died at Apedale Hall on 10 December 1869, at the age of 59. He left an estate valued at £30,000.
