Born in 1786 at Longton in Staffordshire, Nigel William Heathcote was the second son of the industrialist Sir John Edensor Heathcote (1757-1822) of Longton Hall at Longton in Staffordshire.

He appears on the 1851 census, living at 5 Southwick Crescent [now Hyde Park Crescent] in Paddington, the home of his nephew, Henry Cohen, a stock broker.

Nigel William Heathcote 'late of Leamington Priors in the County of Warwick' died at 5 Southwick Crescent on 17 November 1866, leaving an estate valued at £600. He was buried in Kensal Green Cemetery on 21 November 1866.
