Miss Gorges
3 May 1861

Volume 3, page 186, sitting number 3433.

Identified in the Silvy daybooks as 'Miss Gorges,' this is either the 'Miss E. Gorges' who visited the studio on 16 May 1862 [Eleanor Georgiana Gorges; see page 15 of this section for that portrait] or perhaps one of her four sisters. The Misses Gorges were daughters of Hamilton and Georgina Gorges of Kilbrew, County Meath, Ireland.

Given that the daybooks omit any initial, this is probably the eldest unmarried daughter, who was possibly Isabella Corisande Gertrude Gorges. On 28 April 1881 she married the Honourable Alfred John Francis Egerton, son of the 2nd Earl of Ellesmere. She died, aged 68, on 22 April 1910 at her home in Lowndes Square, Knightsbridge, leaving an estate valued at £36,214.
