Miss Blanche Call
(1845-1896)
18 April 1861

Volume 3, page 313, sitting 3144.

Born in 1845, Blanche Call was baptised on 20 June 1845 at St Mary's Bryanston Square, Marylebone. Her father was the banker William Berkeley Call, from 1851 3rd Baronet Call of Whiteford in Cornwall.

On 21 November 1865, at St George's Hanover Square, she married Samuel Edmund Falkiner, only son of Sir Samuel Edmund Riggs Falkiner of Annemount, county Cork [Ireland]. The marriage produced at least one son.

Her husband died, aged 50, on 12 May 1893. Lady Blanche Falkiner died, aged 49 [sic], on 14 May 1896 at 'The Wigwam,' Bourne End, Buckinghamshire. She left effects valued at £2298.

According to the Mid Sussex Times (26 May 1896): 'Lady Falkiner, whose death was announced the other day, had been in such ill health for many years that she had lived in complete retirement, having survived her husband just three years. She was very much admired about 20 years ago, and for several seasons was to be seen at all the smart parties in London. She was remarkably like her brother, Sir William Call, and she had a very charming manner, which made her as much a favourite with women as with men.'
