Mrs Somerville Arthur Gurney, née Katherine Sarah Hamond. Her father was Anthony Hamond of Westacre, Norfolk. In 1857 she married Somerset Arthur Gurney.

She died, aged 79, in Hastings on 17 April 1917. 'The death took place on Tuesday of Lady Gurney, wife of Sir Somerville Gurney, of North Runcton and King's Lynn. The deceased lady, who was in her 80th year, was the fifth daughter of the late Mr Anthony Hamond, of Westacre. It was only on Saturday last that Sir Somerville and Lady Gurney celebrated their diamond wedding, their marriage having taken place on April 14th, 1857' (Diss Express, 20 April 1917).
