The Honourable Mrs Mitford
(1836-1927)

Born on 7 May 1836, the Honourable Margaret Emma Kenyon was the daughter of Lloyd Kenyon, 3rd Baron Kenyon, and his wife Georgiana de Grey, daughter of Thomas de Grey, 4th Baron Walsingham. 

On 11 October 1855 she married William Townley Mitford, who later served as the Member of Parliament (Conservative) for Midhurst from 1859 to 1874.

She appears on the 1861 census visiting her parents at Hanmer in Flintshire [Wales] with her three-year-old son William Kenyon Mitford. In 1871 she was living at 12 Cavendish Square in London with her sons William (13) and Cuthbert (7), and daughter Sybil (5). In 1881 she and her husband were at the same address with son Charles (20), an undergraduate at Oxford, and daughter Sybil (15). The household also included eight servants. 

William Townley Mitford died on 18 April 1889. The Honourable Mrs Mitford died, aged 90, on 4 January 1927 at 19 Montagu Street, Marylebone, London. She was buried at Tillington in Sussex.
