Miss Helen Sandeman

Born Helen Jane Sandeman on 13 December 1831, the daughter of George Glas Sandeman and his wife Elizabeth (née Forster), this is a sister of Albert George Sandeman.

On 3 June 1862 at St James's Church in Paddington Helen Jane Sandeman, second daughter of George Glas Sandeman of 15 Hyde Park Gardens and Westfield, South Hayling in Hampshire, married the Reverend Tupper Carey, (1823-1897), Rector of Fifield Bavant in Wiltshire (later Vicar of Ebbesbourne Wake in Wiltshire), eldest son of Commissary General Carey of Summerlands, Gurnsey (London Evening Standard, 5 June 1862). The marriage produced two sons.

Mrs Helen Carey died on 8 January 1900.

[From an album compiled by Charles Balfour, a British wine merchant importing sherry and port from Portugal. Born in Edinburgh on 22 August 1822, his father was James Balfour. In May 1852 he married Mary Ermelinda, daughter of Robert Woodhouse of Oporto in Portugal. The couple were married at the consulate then afterwards at the British chapel in Oporto. Charles Balfour died on 12 January 1876.]
