Almost certainly Edward Carlile Willoughby, who appears on the 1861 census at 4 Bedford Square, Bloomsbury, a practising barrister living with his widowed mother, younger brother, and twelve-year-old sister. He gave Bloomsbury as his place of birth.

He died, aged 52, on 29 May 1886 at 4 Bedford Square, London, leaving an estate valued at £4650. 

According to the brief announcement of his death that appeared in Freeman's Journal (2 June 1886), he was the 'eldest son of the late B. E. Willoughby of Clifford's-inn.'
