A warm-toned silver print showing a baby lying in an unusual coffin of wicker and glass. An inked inscription verso reads: 'Evelyn Louise Spangler (Parents Grover and Clara).'

Grover Spangler (1886-1973) married Clara May Dittman (1888-1970) on 26 February 1914. Grover's parents were Levi Franklin Spangler (1859-1922) and Ivy Alberta née Smith (1859-1935). From 1881 they lived in Malinta, Ohio, where they operated a grocery store and a barbershop. On 21 August 1885 Levi was appointed the second postmaster of Malinta.

Evelyn Louise Spangler was born in October 1918 but only lived for 12 days. She was buried in Shunk Cemetery (now called Hoy Cemetery), Henry County, Ohio.
