The son of Prince Adalbert of Bavaria, ninth child of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, Prince Alfons was born in Munich on 24 January 1862. He married Princess Louise d'Orléans, daughter of Ferdinand, duc d'Alençon and Sophie of Bavaria. He died in Munich on 8 January 1933.
