Mrs Arthur Way
(1818-1879)

Volume 7, page 161, sitting number 8890.

Identified as 'Mrs Arthur Way' in the Silvy daybooks, this is probably the wife of Arthur Edwin Way (1813-1870) of Ashton Court near Bristol, who represented Bath in the House of Commons between 1859 and 1865. 

On 18 April 1849 at Henbury in Gloucestershire 'Arthur Edwin Way, youngest son of the late Benjamin Way, Esq., of Denham Place, Bucks [married] Harriet Elizabeth, second daughter of the late Joseph Henry Butterworth, Esq., of Clapham, Surrey.'

Arthur Edwin Way died on 19 September 1870 at Ashton Lodge in Somerset. 

On the night of the 1871 census Mrs Way was staying at the Clifton Down Hotel in Bristol with her sons Arthur Gregory Way, aged 20, and Claude Greville Way, aged 14. 

Mrs Harriet Elizabeth Way died, aged 61, on 7 September 1879 at Rownham House, Long Ashton, Somerset. She left an estate valued at £30,000.
