Born on 15 September 1839, Sidney Edward Bouverie Bouverie-Pusey of Pusey House, near Faringdon in Berkshire, was the son of Philip Bouverie-Pusey (1799-1855) and Lady Emily Herbert, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Carnarvon.

He married firstly, on 29 April 1871 Wilhelmina Maria, daughter of Lord William Hervey. His first wife died on 16 November 1885 and he married secondly, on 5 July 1890, Helen Henrietta, widow of the Right Honourable William Massey and daughter of Patrick Grant.

He died without issue on 9 October 1911. Pusey House was inherited by the son of his sister Clara, Philip Francis Fletcher, who adopted the name and arms of Bouverie-Pusey.
