Countess of Gosford

Theodosia, only daughter of John, 10th Earl of Meath, married on 22 June 1832 Archibald Acheson, who succeeded his father as 3rd Earl of Gosford in 1849. She died on 13 February 1876.

According to the announcement of her death which appreared in the Times (16 February 1876), 'The death of the Countess of Gosford occurred suddenly on Sunday at her house in Harley-street. Her ladyship, who was the only daughter of John Chambre, tenth Lord Meath, by his marriage with Lady Melosina Adelaide Meade, fourth daughter of John, first Lord Clanwilliam, was born in 1808, and married in 1832 Archibald, third Lord Gosford, by whom she had issue two sons and four daughters - Archibald, Lord Gosford; Hon. Edward Acheson, Coldstream Guards; Lady Gertrude, married to Mr Francis Savile Foljambe; Lady Mary, married to Hon. Leopold W. H. Powys; Lady Katherine, married to Mr Frederick W. Duncombe; and Lady Edith, unmarried.'

Short obituaries appeared in many other newspapers, including the Morning Post (16 February 1876). 'We have to record the death of the Countess of Gosford, which occurred suddenly, from pleurisy, on Sunday, at her house in Harley-street. [...] The deceased countess was much beloved for her charitable disposition and benevolence to her poorer neighbours.'
