Miss Madeline Clarke
(1849-1940)

Born in Dublin in or about 1849, Madeline Frederica Stanley Clarke was the fourth daughter of Colonel John Frederick Sales Clarke of the Royal Scots Greys (died 1856). She appears on the 1851 census staying at 10 Cornwall Terrace in Marylebone, the home of her grandmother Margaret Terry. Also present on the night of the census were her six siblings and their mother, Margaret Clarke (née Terry).

On 12 January 1869 she married John Macclesfield Heath, a Lieutenant in the Bombay Staff Corps.

The couple appear on the 1891 census living at Chorley Hall, Stottesden, Shropshire. John Heath gave 'Retired Lieut. Colonel in Army' as his profession. Also present on the night of the census were their fifteen-year-old son Ronald and four servants. 

Madeline Frederica Stanley Heath died on 29 November 1940, aged 91, at Danesford Grange, Bridgnorth, Shropshire.
