Stanley de Astel Calvert Clarke

Born in or about 1837, Stanley de Astel Calvert Clarke was a Captain in the 13th Hussars. On 25 September 1867 he married Mary Temple Rose, daughter of the Right Honourable Sir John Rose.
'On the 25th inst., at St James's Church, Piccadilly [...] Stanley de Astel Calvert Clarke, Esq., captain 13th Hussars, son of the late Colonel J.F.S. Clarke, Royal Scots Greys, to Mary Temple, eldest daughter of the Hon. John Rose of Montreal, Canada' (Morning Post, 27 September 1867).
He later held the office of Clerk Marshal and Chief Equerry to King Edward VII from 1874 to 1908 and Extra Equerry to King George V. He held the office of Serjeant-at-Arms of the House of Lords between 1910 and 1911. He lived at the Ranger's Lodge in Hyde Park.
Major-General Sir Stanley de Astel Calvert Clarke died on 29 November 1911, aged 74.
