A pencilled inscription on the reverse of the mount identifies the sitter as Mlle Moncelet of the Paris Opéra.

From an album assembled by Doctor Martin Batt Tanner of Summerlands, Exeter, Devon. An inked inscription on the album’s frontispiece reads ‘Photographs of Celebrities / in 1862 / collected by me whilst residing at the / Rotunda Hospital, Dublin.’
