Miss Blanche Malet

[An inked inscription verso in a period hand identifies the sitter as ‘Miss B. Malet' and she is similarly identified in the Silvy daybooks.]

This is probably Miss Jane Blanche Malet, daughter of Sir Charles St Lo Malet. Born at Cork in Ireland in or about 1843, she married Walter Rosebrook Duttson in 1870. According to the 1871 census, her husband was an ‘East India merchant.’

Mrs Jane Blanche Duttson died on 3 June 1913.
