Born on 29 July 1820, Mary Augusta Frederica Grimston was the third daughter and sixth child of James Walter Grimston, 1st Earl of Verulam and his wife Lady Charlotte née Jenkinson. On 3 October 1840 she married Jacob Bouverie, elder son of William Bouverie, 3rd Earl of Radnor. Her husband’s father died in 1869 and he became the 4th Earl of Radnor. He had previously, from 1828, been styled Viscount Folkestone.

Lady Radnor died on 5 April 1879 at the age of 58. Her husband survived her by ten years.

An obituary appeared in the Hampshire Advertiser (9 April 1879). 'We deeply regret to announce the death of the Countess of Radnor, which happened at an early hour on Saturday morning at Longford Castle, near Salisbury. The cause of her death is stated to have been dropsy. Lady Radnor was Lady Mary Augusta Frederica Grimston, third daughter of James Walter, first Earl of Verulam, and granddaughter of Charles, first Earl of Liverpool. She was born on the 29th of July, 1820, and married, in October, 1840, the present Earl of Radnor, then Viscount Folkestone, by whom she has had a family of fifteen children; of these twelve survive - namely, eight sons and four daughters.
