Miss Anne Geddes
(1838-1909)

Born in Jamaica in or about 1838, Anne Elizabeth Geddes was the daughter of Alexander Geddes and his first wife Sarah Frances née Hurlock. 

She appears on the 1861 census, aged 23,  living with her father, her step-mother Frances née Evershed, and two sisters at 27 Chepstow Villas West, Notting Hill. Alexander Geddes gave ‘West Indian proprietor’ as his profession. He died on 1 April 1864 at Murphy’s Hill, St Ann, Jamaica (David Dobson, Scots in the West Indies, 1707-1857). 

Anne Elizabeth Geddes never married. She died, aged 71, on 22 June 1909 at 4 Porchester Place, on the north side of Hyde Park. She left an estate valued at £9342. 

She was buried in Highgate Cemetery.
