Mrs Moore-Halsey
(1786-1869)
10 July 1861

Volume 4, page 199, sitting number 4867.

[Identified in the Silvy daybooks as 'Mrs Moore Halsey,' this is probably Mrs Sarah Moore-Halsey, wife of the Reverend John Fitz Moore-Halsey of Gaddesden Park in Hertfordshire.]

Mrs Sarah Moore-Halsey was the only surviving child and heir of Thomas Halsey of Great Gaddesden.

She married firstly Joseph Thompson Whately on 3 August 1804. After his death, she married secondly on 6 February 1821 the Reverend John Fitz Moore of Ivanhoe in Buckinghamshire.

That same month Reverend Moore assumed by Royal Licence the additional surname Halsey.

Mrs Moore-Halsey appears on the 1861 census, age 75, living at Gaddesden House, Great Gaddesden, with her husband and daughter. She had a housekeeper, two lady's maids, and twelve servants to help her run the house.

Mrs Sarah Moore-Halsey died, aged 83, on 25 April 1869.
