The Honourable Francis Dudley Leigh was born on 30 July 1855, the second son of William Henry Leigh, 2nd Baron Leigh of Stoneleigh, and his wife Lady Caroline Amelia Leigh (née Grosvenor), daughter of the 2nd Marquess of Westminster.
Educated at Harrow and at Trinity College, Cambridge, he was later assistant private secretary to Viscount Cross, Secretary of State for India, 1886-1891, and a member of the London County Council 1904-1907.
He married firstly Frances Hélène Forbes Beckwith of New York, daughter of the Honourable W.M. Beckwith of New York, on 29 November 1890 at St George’s, Hanover Square.
His older brother Gilbert having died while hunting in Wyoming in 1884, he succeeded to his father’s title, becoming 3rd Baron Leigh of Stoneleigh on 21 October 1905.
His first wife died on 28 April 1909. Many years later he married secondly Marie Campbell, daughter of Alexander Campbell, on 2 October 1923.
Lord Leigh died without issue in London on 16 May 1938, at the age of 82.
The Honourable Rupert Leigh was born on 10 December 1856, the third son of William Henry Leigh, 2nd Baron Leigh of Stoneleigh. Following his education at Wellington, he joined the army and eventually gained the rank of Major in the service of the 4th Dragoon Guards (formerly the 15th Hussars). He fought in the Afghan War 1878-79 and the Egyptian War in 1882. He was with the Bechuanaland Frontier Force 1885-85 and was ADC to the Governor of New South Wales 1890-94. He was also military secretary to the Governor of Bombay in 1900.
On 14 July 1906 he married Beatrice Mary Smith, daughter of Dudley Robert Smith. Their marriage produced at least one son, who succeeded to his uncle's title in 1938.
Major the Honourable Rupert Leigh died on 14 August 1919 at 7 Beaufort Gardens, Kensington. He left an estate valued at £3789.
