The Honourable Louisa Edwardes

Born on 4 October 1839 at Edmondthorpe in Leicestershire, The Honourable Louisa Jane Edwardes was the daughter of Captain William Edwardes, 3rd Baron Kensington and his wife Laura née Ellison.
On 23 September 1880 she married William Henry Newenham, son of Robert Newenham.
The couple appear on the 1891 census living at Pailton House in Warwickshire with three nephews (aged 7 to 3), a governess and five servants. William gave 'Late Captain Army' as his profession.
When the census was taken in 1911, Louisa was a 71-year-old widow living at 40 Belgrave Road in Victoria with four servants, specifically a cook, a parlourmaid, a housemaid and a maid.
The Honourable Louisa Jane Newenham died on 24 May 1929 at 40 Belgrave Road, Victoria. She left an estate valued at £16,038.
'Many people, not only in Pailton, but throughout the Rugby district, will learn with the deepest regret of the death at 40 Belgrave Road, London, S.W., of the Hon. Mrs. Louisa Jane Newenham, widow of Captain William Henry Newenham, J.P., of Pailton House, near Rugby. Born in 1839, she was the second and last surviving daughter of the third Lord Kensington, her mother being the fourth daughter of Mr Cuthbert Ellison, of Hepburn, Durham. The marriage of the Hon. Louisa Jane Edwardes and Captain Newenham was solemnised in Septermber, 1880, and their early married life was spent at Maryborough Park, County Cork. Capt. and Mrs. Newenham subsequently moved to Street Ashton House, and afterwards to Pailton House, where they resided up to the time of Capt. Newenham's death in 1898.
'Capt. and Mrs. Newenham were kindness itself and they were regarded with feelings of real affection by the residents of Pailton and Monks Kirby districts. They took a particularly keen interest in the local schools, and actively assisted by Capt. Newenham's son, "Captain Harry," as the villagers generally styled him, were always ready to get up a village entertainment. Capt. and Mrs. Newenham were very prominent supporters of the Conservative cause both in the Rugby and Nuneaton Parliamentary divisions. and were also active Primrose League workers. They were staunch members of the Church of England and were regular worshippers at Monks Kirkby church.
'For the last thirty years Mrs. Newenham had lived in retirement at Belgrave Road, to which address she removed upon Capt. Newenham's death' (Rugby Advertiser, 31 May 1929).
