Miss Kynaston

Born in or about 1836, Elizabeth Kynaston was the daughter of John Kynaston of Greenwich.

The family appear on the 1861 census living at Sunderland House, Croom's Hill, Greenwich. John was a widower with three adult children living at home, and four servants. He owned a 'Woolen Factory employing 27 men [and] 4 boys.'

On 5 August 1862 at St Alphege in Greenwich, 'Robert Ritchie, Esq., of Beaufort-buildings, London, [married] Elizabeth, youngest daughter of John Kynaston, Esq., Greenwich' [Maidstone Journal and Kentish Advertiser, 12 August 1862].

The couple appear on the 1871 census living at Bromley in Kent. Robert Ritiche was an 'Architect & Surveyor.' The marriage had already produced four children: Charles (6), Margaret (3), Eleanor (1) and Kathleen (3 months). By 1881 a further three children had joined the family.

Mrs Elizabeth Ritchie died, aged 73, on 23 June 1909 at 27 Clifton Gardens, Folkestone, Kent. She left effects valued at £1157.
