Volume 2, page 329, sitting number 2605.
Born on 18 September 1805 at Stratford in Essex, Lady Elizabeth Henniker was the fourth daughter of Lord John Minet Henniker (from 1822 Henniker-Major), 3rd Baron Henniker of Stratford-upon-Slaney in County Wicklow, Ireland.
In February 1826 she married, as his second wife, her cousin, the Reverend Sir Augustus Brydges Henniker, 3rd Bt., at St George's Hanover Square. 'After the ceremony the party went to Lord Henniker's house, in Grosvenor-square, where they partook of a sumptuous breakfast; after which the happy pair left town for Southend' (Norwich Mercury, 18 February 1826). Their marriage produced ten daughters and two sons.
Her husband died on 28 January 1849. Lady Henniker appears on the 1851 census, a widow living with six of her children at Bathwick in Somerset. In 1871 she was living with two of her daughters at Hastings in Sussex.
Lady Elizabeth Henniker died, aged 76, on 23 May 1882 at 7 Montpelier Crescent, Brighton. She left a personal estate valued at £1879. 'The will [...] was proved by Sir Brydges Powell Henniker, Bart., the son and sole executor, to whom she leaves all her property. The personal estate is sworn under a nominal sum, the bulk of the property passing under settlement' (Illustrated London News, 22 July 1882).
