A faire-part in carte-de-visite format announcing the death of Lucien Vattier, aged 2, on 10 July 1916 at Penly in Normandy, a village on the coast six miles northeast of Dieppe. Various pious sentiments are also printed on the reverse of the mount. To quote just one, 'il est allé rejoindre les Anges pour chanter avec eux de joyeux cantiques' [English: 'he has gone to join the Angels to sing joyful canticles with them'].
