Man in an open-topped coffin
Fischi & Mattison, New York, USA
silver print
A large format matt silver print showing a man laid out in a coffin, apparently in a domestic interior that has been dressed for the occasion. The walls have been hung with a black fabric, and the chairs have been covered with some dark material. Various wreaths and several floral tributes decorate the space. At the head of the coffin there's a candelabra and a piece of fabric decorated with the Holy Name of Jesus monogram.
Photographed by Fischl and Mallison of 1442, Third Avenue, New York, identified by photographer's details printed in the lower margin of the mount.
The print measures 8" by 5.7" (20.1 cm by 14.6 cm) and is mounted on a piece of off-white Bristol board measuring 11.8" by 10" (30 cm by 25.4 cm).
