Lady Anne Duff

Born in London on 16 August 1847, Lady Anne Elizabeth Clementina Duff was the eldest daughter of James Duff, 5th Earl of Fife, and his wife Lady Agnes Georgiana Elizabeth née Hay, daughter of William George Hay, 18th Earl of Erroll.
On 17 October 1865 she married John Villiers Stuart Townshend, 5th Marquess Townshend. Their marriage produced two children.
Lady Townshend died, aged 78, on 31 December 1925 at Colebridge House, Cheltenham Road, Gloucester.
A short obituary appeared in the Gloucester Citizen (1 January 1926). ‘The Dowager Marchioness Townshend died at her residence, Colebridge House near Gloucester, on Thursday. She was Lady Anne Elizabeth Clementina Duff, eldest daughter of the fifth Earl Fife, K.T., sister of the late Duke of Fife, K.G., and aunt of H.R.H. the Duchess of Fife, Princess Arthur of Connaught, and Lady Maud Carnegie. She was married to the fifth Marquess Townshend in 1865. By this marriage there were two children, the late Marquess Townshend, whose son is now the present and seventh marquess, and one daughter, Lady Agnes Durham, who married in 1902 Mr James Durham, formerly Attaché in the Diplomatic Service.’
